A couple of days with the Wiersemas

This past weekend we had the Wiersemas over for a couple of days as they went on vacation.  We went bowling, went for a hike, went to Toronto and saw a Blue Jays game and went out for breakfast. We had a lot of fun catching up with Kati again and she got to meet Joel.  Chloe was so excited to see her again while Cornelius was excited to have Codi and Collin to talk sports with!  We shared a lot of laughs, took turns giving Chloe shoulder rides, ate lots of food, and enjoyed each other's company.

Our morning hike.

Everyone on our walk.

Looking up at the CN tower.

The Blue Jays game.

Checking out the water.

Joel loved Kati as his babysitter, as much as
Chloe has in the past.

Rainforest Cafe

Instead of driving home in the traffic that was going so fast yesterday afternoon we decided to stop and watch the traffic not move from the restaurant.  If you have little children and would love to see this place it is a cute little place that will cost you a little bit, but well worth it.  Chloe had a tonne of fun looking at all the fish in the aquariums and the animals hanging on the wall.  The elephants made lots of noise, there was a lightening storm, the snake moved.  We had a great time and by the time we got out the traffic was moving!

Down memory lane, a car ride with Dad

A couple of weeks ago I went on a road trip with my father and it brought back many memories.  Memories I am sure that my siblings can share with me.  When we were younger our parents used to take us driving on Sunday afternoons.  We would all pile in the car and we would just drive!  To this day I am not sure that my parents even knew where they were going or if we were just going for a drive to get out.  As kids we did not always appreciate the opportunity for a Sunday drive so we would cause a ruckus and this often put a wrench in the calm and peaceful ride.

Last week our family went up and stayed at my parents for a couple of days. While we were there, I needed to make a trip to the Blue Mountain area. So I asked my father if he wanted to go for drive.  My father jumped at the chance.  We hopped into the car at 8:00 in the morning and started out on our travels north.  My father knew all the back roads and the best ways to travel.  As we were driving he would point out where people lived, what had changed over the years and some of his favourite houses.

The first place we stopped at was Campf!re Bible Camp, where I had spent 3 years as camp director, it was nice to drive down memory lane.  Then we continued north to towards Blue Mountain.  We were given  a tour of the area by a good friend, we looked at some amazing houses and saw some sweet landscaping.

On the way back we took a different route home and saw many different things.  Dad even let me choose some of the roads on the way back.  It was a fun trip by both father and son.  When we got home it was fun listening to Dad describe his road trip.  It was almost like Chloe coming home from school: "then we saw this"... "Did I tell you we drove past here?"..."then this happened and we went here..."

What amazing day and I am thankful for the time that was spent with my father, the talks we could have and the quiet times enjoying God's creation.  If I have the chance and I hope that I do some time soon I hope that we can travel together again soon.  Thanks Dad for the good day, the good memories and reliving the past!

Cottage time!

A couple of weeks ago we went to the cottage with Nancy and Jerry Vink and their two children, Avery and Keira.  We had a blast just hanging out, sitting by the fire, playing games, chatting, driving, eating and catching up.  Here are some pictures of our weekend away.  It was a lot of fun and would love to do it again sometime soon.

Family pictures

Pictures of the past couple of weeks

Chloe loves her animals.
Grampa set up the sprinkler one night because we had not received a lot of rain in the past couple of weeks.  so out went Chloe and Mindy.  They ran and played in the sprinkler.  It was a lot of fun to watch.

Chloe and Victoria by the swimming pool.
A dream come true for Cornelius, Chloe wanting to play hockey!

We also went bowling for one night.  Take a look at the score down below to see who won!
