Campfire in Haiti!

It is 35 degrees in Haiti and Mindy wants smores!  Smores mean a campfire and a campfire in Haiti mean making it really, really hot.  But when Chloe starts saying she wants a campfire too, how can one argue with two of his favourite girls.  So a campfire was planned for tonight.  Thanks Uncle Randy for getting wood and Aunt Karen for donating all of paper to get it started.  Thanks Maia and Chloe for building the square house to get the fire going.  It was a fun night of roasting marshmellows and hotdogs.  Sharing stories and singing.  To close out we even we got a sudden pouring of rain.  A beautiful night and I am thankful I listened to my girls.

Chloe and Maia proud of their fire building skills.

Uncle Randy lighting the fire.

Levi, very much interested, did daddy do a good job?

Everyone eagerly awaiting the fire!

Thanksgiving in Haiti!

A Canadian thanksgiving in Haiti with some friends from the west coast, a little small town called Chilliwack.  The Krul family are part of MAF and have a son, Jayden, Chloe's age and son, Justin, Joel's age.  It was fun celebrating thanksgiving with them.  Mind you we did not have turkey, stuffing, or mashed potatoes but we did have soemthing even better: burgers, hotdogs, potato soup and caesar salad.  Thanks Jason and Wilhelmina for the great night!

Family time, eating and enjoying each other's company.

Food and decorations!

Grade 7 and 8 has started!

A lot of planning, a lot of thought, and a lot of time has been dedicated to our new high school program and today is the day that it all began.  We have waited for this day for a very long time and we were excited to see it happen today.  God has blessed us here at Adoration with the possiblity of opening a secondary program at Adoration Christian Centre.

We now have over 200 students doing devotions before school.

The director of the secondary school: Mr. Dalizien Erneste.

First Day of School 2012

Yesterday was the first day of school at Adoration Christian Centre.
Every day before school begins the students line up outside.  While they are lined up they participate in singing of a song, reciting the memory text that they are learning, a prayer dedicating the day to God and singing one of the verses of the national anthem.  There were lots of parents on hand yesterday to see their chilren begin a new school year.

To begin the school year Evenz read Psalm 91 for the children.  Pastor Octavius spoke for a little bit on Proverbs 1: 8 and 9.  Alix, the director, took the time to go over some of the rules of the school year.  He also encouraged the children to work hard and try their best in all the areas of school.

All the teachers were introduced along with what grade their are teaching.

Students.

The children sitting in their classrooms.  Some of the children did not come to school yesterday because there were demonstrations near the school.  Today the classrooms are much fuller.

We added two classes this year...a kindergarten and a special education class.  We needed to buy more materials and hang new green boards.  Here are some of the materials that we purchased.
