Kindergarten Graduation

A flat tire on the way to graduation this morning...we were a little late for the beginning of the school day but not for graduation.  Some nice gentlemen helped us jack our car up and change the tire.

Here are some recent and not so recent pictures of our family in the past month.  (you can click on the pictures to make them bigger)

Joel celebrated his first birthday on May 11th, he needed a bit of help blowing out the candles.

His own cupcake! Not nearly as bad as Chloe when she had her cake.

In the cupboards!  All kids love to play here!

Looks like he had fun unwinding the toilet paper.

Cooling off with mom!
Play day for the pre-ks and the kindergartens from Chloe's school.

A colourful change!

When we first came to Haiti we went our for supper at a restaurant that showed the view of the picture below.  This picture shows what I call concrete village, it is a poorer part located in one of the richer parts of Port au Prince.

Just recently a couple of companies have donated moneys/paint to have the houses painted.  The picture down below shows the progress that has been made.  You can determine which one you like better.

Sugar Cane Museum

Last week the Grades 2 and 3s went to the Sugar Cane Museum to see how sugar use to be made from sugar cane. The whole process before electricity was quite an interesting sight to behold. The children learned a lot from what they had seen.

Flying over Haiti!

On Saturday John, Melissa, Mindy, Randy and myself went flying with Jason Krul up to the northern part of Haiti.  It was a great getaway and we got to see a lot of beautiful things in Haiti.   Here are some pictures:

The mountains looked so nice in the morning under the grey clouds.

The Citadel near Cape Haitian, a fortress, just in case the French came back.
It is amazing because it is built on the side of a cliff, it goes straight down for 100s of feet.

The northern part of Haiti.  So lush and green in some places.

Where my next house will be built!

A quick stop in Pignon for some of us to get our stomachs in the right places.

Not only is Melissa a great photographer but she also does hair.  She did Chloe's hair before the pictures were done.  Thanks for the pictures Melissa and doing the hair!

Joel

Melissa Bos came to Haiti to see the country and also is a great photographer.  She took some pictures of Joel and in the near future will take some of Chloe.  Today is Joel's day!
