Our packing is almost done, just a few last minute items to try and squeeze in. We're definitely getting right to our weight limits for our luggage! Flying out in 2 days. Not really nervous, but still pretty excited. Looking forward to being on our way, settling into our new home, seeing old friends, meeting new ones. I'm excited for Chloe's first day of school, and to see her face when she meets her pet dogs. I'm enthusiastic about trying to learn Creole. Hopefully the French course I took before we left will be helpful for getting by in our first few weeks. I really want to learn the language well, so that I can have good conversations with the people at Adoration Christian Center and at our new church.
For those of you reading this, who would like to pray for us, please pray that we have safe travels, that things will go smoothly with passports/customs/luggage/residency papers, that the transition will go well for all of us (but especially for Chloe, with respect to the heat, different foods, new language, new school), and for Cornelius and I to be able to pick up the new language and that we will be well-received by the new school and church community. Also for health, with the exposure to new and different germs and bugs in a new country. Also for our friends, family and parents here in Canada, who will have to say good-bye. I could probably keep going and going with prayer requests, but that is good for a start.
"The prayer of a righteous man (or woman) is powerful and effective." James 5:16b, so please pray!
2 more sleeps :)
